Your adventure starts on Tuesday, August 12th, with an 8:30 AM meet-up at Skyline Guest Ranch for an initial briefing before heading into Yellowstone National Park. At the Pebble Creek trailhead, Skyline’s expert guides will load up the pack mules, introduce you to your trusted horse, and prepare the group for the ride into the backcountry. The journey begins on the iconic "Stairway to Heaven" trail, winding up into the Pebble Creek Valley, where wide-open meadows, rugged peaks, and pristine waterways await. As you ride through the breathtaking valley, you’ll pause for a peaceful lunch along the creek, soaking in the beauty of your surroundings. By afternoon, you'll arrive at your backcountry camp, nestled among wildflowers and mountain vistas. Once settled in, the true retreat experience begins—each day offering two full yoga sessions, creative mindfulness practices, and grounding exercises to deepen your connection to nature, your horse, and yourself.
As the sun dips behind the peaks, you’ll gather around a crackling campfire, sharing laughter and stories over a gourmet backcountry meal prepared by your Skyline guides. Surrounded by the quiet beauty of the Pebble Creek Valley, you'll settle into the rhythm of the wild, forging deep connections with your fellow riders. When night falls, drift off to sleep beneath a sky full of stars, the crisp mountain air carrying the soothing sounds of the backcountry. At dawn, wake to the aroma of fresh-brewed coffee and the soft glow of morning light filtering through the meadows. A gentle yoga session will ease you into the day, stretching sore muscles and grounding you in the stillness of Yellowstone before another day of adventure unfolds.
Spend your day fly fishing for native Yellowstone cutthroat trout in the pristine bends of Pebble Creek, or embark on a day ride to Bliss Pass for sweeping views of upper Pebble Creek and the snow-capped Beartooth Mountains. The trail to Bliss Pass crosses the 45th parallel—the line between Montana and Wyoming—before ascending 1,600 feet through mixed forests of spruce, fir, and pine. As you near the pass, the forest thins, revealing awe-inspiring vistas that truly live up to the name "Bliss." Be sure to scramble up a nearby hill for the best panoramic views of the amphitheater-shaped valley below and the distant Beartooth range. If a more leisurely day is your style, relax at camp with a good book and soak in the unspoiled beauty around you, watching for wildlife in the meadows as the horses graze. As night falls, gather once more around the fire for another mouthwatering meal and share stories beneath a starlit sky. Let the crackle of the campfire and the fresh mountain air lull you into a peaceful night's sleep.
On your final morning, wake to the soft hues of sunrise stretching across the valley and savor a hearty breakfast as the wilderness comes to life. Before breaking camp, gather for one last morning yoga session, a chance to reflect, stretch, and soak in the serenity of Yellowstone’s backcountry one final time. With hearts full and spirits refreshed, you’ll pack up and begin the journey back through the sweeping meadows and towering peaks, retracing the breathtaking route that led you into this wild sanctuary. As you descend from the backcountry, you'll carry with you not just memories of stunning landscapes and outdoor adventures, but a deeper connection to yourself, your horse, and the timeless beauty of Yellowstone. This is more than just a trip—it's an experience that will stay with you long after you return to the rhythm of everyday life.
