Experience Montana’s high country like never before. Ride your surefooted horse deep into the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, ascending to 10,000 feet in elevation. This challenging, high-adventure ride is designed for experienced riders or those ready to tackle steep, rugged trails in exchange for some of the most breathtaking scenery in the West. Along the way, you’ll traverse wildflower meadows, alpine lakes, cascading waterfalls, and panoramic mountain views that showcase Big Sky Country at its finest. Ride Details & Tentative Itinerary: Guests will meet at Skyline Guest Ranch between 8:00 and 9:00 AM to check in and prepare for the ride. The journey begins with a morning ride into the Gallatin National Forest and Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, where riders will experience a variety of terrain, from dense pine forests to rocky mountain passes. After approximately four hours in the saddle, we’ll stop in the high country for a hearty sack lunch and time to explore the breathtaking surroundings. Once everyone is rested and refreshed, we’ll saddle up and begin the ride back to the ranch, arriving in the late afternoon. Ride length is customizable based on the group’s needs, typically ranging from 6 to 10+ hours. What’s Included: -Well-trained horse & experienced guide -Sack lunch & beverages -Unparalleled backcountry scenery Lunch Details: Each guest receives a freshly prepared sack lunch, which usually includes sandwich, homemade cookies, trail mix or nuts, fresh fruit, water, Gatorade, and/or soft drinks (gluten-free & vegetarian options available upon request) Additional Information: -Groups larger than 10 – Please call our office to book. -Not seeing your preferred date? Accommodations: Lodging reservations are non-refundable within 14-days of the check-in date. To receive a full refund, please call our office or email at least two weeks prior to reservation. Full payment for horseback riding and fishing experiences is due at the time of booking. 50% of the payment is a non-refundable deposit. Non-refundable deposits can be applied to a rescheduled trip the following season. Camping Trips: For pack trips, a non-refundable deposit of 50% is due at the time of booking with the remaining balance due upon arrival at Skyline Guest Ranch. We recommend clients purchase travel insurance for pack trips. Photography Retreat: Payment for the retreat will occur in two parts, an initial payment of 50% is due upon booking in the form of a nonrefundable deposit. The remaining payment will be due on July 1, 2024. In the event that a participant cannot attend, the nonrefundable deposit can be applied to a future booking with Skyline Guest Ranch. Refunds will not be offered for scheduled changes or cancellations due to weather. We reserve the right to adjust the itinerary in an effort to align activities with the best weather conditions.
